Transamidation‐based vitrimers from renewable sources

Vitrimers are polymeric materials that behave as thermosets at room temperature but, when heated, they exhibit a plastic flow similar to thermoplastics, enabling their reprocessability. A series of new bio-based polyamide-polyamine vitrimers synthetized starting from tris(2-aminoethyl)amine and epoxidized methyl oleate, material can be easily prepared renewable resources obtainable both natural products waste. The incorporation free amine groups in the network enables transamidation exchange reaction with crosslinking amide functions; this reaction, if appropriately catalyzed, donates full reprocessability material. Boric acid, which is known green, cheap non-toxic catalyst for reactions, employed work. Once optimal condition found, different loadings tested obtained subjected thermal mechanical characterization. possess good stability up 300°C Tg value ranging between 7 21°C depending on B(OH)3 content. Furthermore it possible observe how introduction boric acid reduces Ea (inferred stress-relaxation experiments) 130 ± 8 KJ mol−1 mean 63 4 mol−1.
